Superintendent's Message

With 75 years of service to the citizens of the Commonwealth, the men and women of this statewide agency strive to fulfill our public safety mission while improving the quality of life for those living, working, and visiting in Virginia. From our highways to within our communities, the Virginia State Police is recognized nationally for its superior enforcement, investigative, educational, technological, and analytical resources.

While our troopers work to protect your interests, in return, we ask you to help protect them. Tragically, too many law enforcement officers are struck and killed or seriously injured while doing their job, but, it doesn’t have to happen. So, we ask for your courtesy and help on the highway. Directly below this message is a public service announcement you can view online about the Move Over law. Remember, by moving over, you give our troopers the room to move safely on the side of the road.

We appreciate your interest in the Virginia State Police and invite you to visit our site often as it will be continually updated with new information.
